Let’s make Osechi ryori!
Osechi ryori(お節料理) is a collection of Japanese traditional New Year’s foods which has
begun in Heian Period (794-1185). It is originally for offering to
Toshigami-sama (Year God) with a wish of happiness and health.
Osechi ryori used to be made at home, but it
is nowadays sold at department stores, supermarkets, and even at convenience stores,
and families around Japan often purchase it at stores. It looks laborious foods,
but some dishes can be made very easily.
In this class, you can make a few dishes of
Osechi ryori, and pack in a special box called Jubako. Let's make a beautiful
Osechi ryori together with a wish for good fortune in 2018!
